The Norton 6000 Series PowerMatic® was a full-featured electro-hydraulic low energy automatic swing door operator designed for high-usage, heavy-duty commercial applications.
Commonly referred to simply as the Norton PowerMatic, the 6000 Series combined powered automatic opening with a Grade 1 Norton 7500 Series heavy-duty mechanical door closer. This allowed the operator to provide automatic accessibility while retaining the controlled mechanical closing characteristics of a traditional commercial surface door closer.
The legacy PowerMatic 6000 was available for push-side or pull-side mounting, was non-handed and incorporated advanced functions including Push and Go, obstruction detection, electric locking hardware integration, access control integration and programmable operator adjustments.
Automatic Door and Hardware recommends considering the Maverick HA8LP Low Profile Automatic Door Opener when replacing an obsolete Norton 6000 Series PowerMatic operator.
Instead of continuing to invest in a discontinued automatic operator platform, the HA8LP provides a current-production low energy automatic door solution with a compact header, built-in mechanical closing spring and support for modern activation and locking applications.
Important: The Maverick HA8LP is a replacement option for appropriate applications and is not being represented as an identical component-for-component Norton 6000 operator. Door size, weight, traffic requirements, fire rating, mounting conditions and existing hardware should be verified before selecting a replacement.

Many Norton 6000 PowerMatic installations already have hardwired or wireless handicap activation devices installed. When purchasing a Maverick HA8LP from Automatic Door and Hardware, we can help guide you in determining whether compatible existing activation devices can be connected to the new HA8LP operator.

The legacy Norton 6000 Series PowerMatic was designed to provide intelligent door control for high-usage, heavy-duty commercial applications.
Unlike a basic motor-driven operator, the 6000 incorporated a Norton 7500 Series Grade 1 heavy-duty mechanical door closer. During mechanical operation and closing, the closer provided controlled door movement and allowed the opening to continue functioning as a traditional surface closer when electrical power was unavailable.
A major feature of the Norton 6000 PowerMatic was its combination of powered automatic opening with a traditional hydraulic mechanical door closer.
When powered operation was required, the operator automatically opened the door. During closing or manual operation, the integrated mechanical closer provided the controlled feel and functionality expected from a commercial surface door closer.
If electrical power was turned off, the operator could continue functioning as a mechanical surface door closer, an important feature for appropriate fire-rated applications.
When the door was manually pushed or pulled open, the PowerMatic operator could sense the movement and automatically continue opening the door to its full-open position.
If the door encountered an obstruction during powered opening, the operator stopped the opening cycle and allowed the door to close.
If an obstruction was encountered while closing, the operator could reopen the door once. If the obstruction was encountered again, the door could rest against the obstruction until it was removed.
The operator incorporated an adjustable motor-start delay to help coordinate powered opening with compatible electric locking hardware.
The selector switch included an infinite hold-open mode that allowed the door to remain at its set open position until the mode was changed or power was turned off.
The Norton 6000 Series PowerMatic was designed for demanding commercial environments and supported doors up to approximately 4'0" wide x 8'0" high and 250 lbs., subject to the specific installation and applicable requirements.
