A handicap door is an ADA compliant commercial swinging door that can be opened or closed automatically. Most handicap doors are 36" wide and constructed from 6063 aluminum with a full view glass lite for visibility. An automatic door opener is typically mounted to the top of the handicap door frame and two push to open activation switches are located near the door away from the swing path of the door. The total cost for a handicap door is typically $4000 to $6500 without installation. Installation requires approximately 5 hours of labor and can cost an additional $1000 to $1500.

Handicap Doors - $4000 To $6500

For a standard 36" x 84" handicap door system the cost is around $4000 to $6500.00. This will include an ADA compliant bottom rail, offset pivot hinges, ADA threshold, ADA door opener, and an ADA compliant pull handle and push bar. Glass is not included.

Handicap Door Glass - $150 To $300

Handicap doors use 1/4" tempered clear glass. The cost varies depending on your location, but is fairly cheap ranging from $150 to $300. Larger handicap doors will require more glass and cost more.

Handicap Door Installation Labor - $1000 To $1500

If you hire a contractor or handy man installation will require atleast 5 hours and can range from $1000 to $1500. If you have a friend that is handy or you can read instructions, installing the handicap door opener yourself can save you alot of money.
