Power Assist Door Operator
A
power assist door operator is an electric door opener designed to mount to the top of a commercial door frame. Utilizing a dc motor and a mechanical gearbox with a connected arm, the power assist door opener will push or pull the door open when triggered by some type of actuator device such as a handicap push to open button. Power assist door operators are unique since they typically have additional features not found on standard automatic door openers.
Push and Go Function
Most power assist doors have an automatic door operator that has the push and go function. The push and go function allows the pedestrian to gently push or pull on the door to trigger it to automatically open. Push and go is a very useful function for a power assist door because pedestrians don't have to look for a handicap push to open button. Instead they can just go right up to the door and gently push on it to have it automatically open.
Safety Obstruction Function
Another important feature of power assist doors is that they have a reverse on obstruction safety feature. If the door begins closing and there is a pedestrian still in the door way, it will sense that there is an obstruction and automatically reverse back to the full open position.
