Already have a commercial hollow metal door with a doggable panic bar and need to make it automatic? The Maverick HA8SP Automatic Door Opener Package provides the automatic operator and wireless handicap activation components needed to convert a compatible existing hollow metal swing door into an automatic ADA accessible entrance.
This package is specifically designed for applications where the existing hollow metal door is equipped with a doggable panic bar. During periods of automatic operation, the panic bar can be mechanically dogged down, holding the latch retracted and allowing the Maverick HA8SP to automatically open and close the door.
At the heart of the package is the Maverick HA8SP Ultra Heavy Duty Automatic Door Operator, engineered for demanding commercial applications, high traffic and doors weighing up to 550 lbs.
Important: This is an automatic door opener package only. The hollow metal door, door frame and panic bar are not included. They are shown and referenced to illustrate the intended application.
This package provides the major automatic door components needed to add automatic operation and wireless handicap activation to a compatible existing hollow metal door with doggable panic hardware.
Not Included: Hollow metal door, hollow metal frame, panic bar / exit device, hinges, pivots, locking hardware and other door hardware unless specifically stated otherwise.
If you already have a properly functioning hollow metal door and frame, replacing the entire door assembly may be unnecessary just to add automatic operation.
This package is designed to add a heavy-duty automatic operator and wireless handicap activation system to a compatible existing hollow metal swing door.
Your existing door, frame, hinges or pivots and panic hardware remain part of the opening. The Maverick HA8SP is added to provide automatic opening and controlled closing.
Panic hardware creates an additional consideration when adding an automatic door opener. If the panic device is latched, the automatic operator cannot open the door until that latch has been released.
A doggable panic bar provides a simple solution when the opening is permitted to remain unlatched during periods of automatic operation.
When the existing panic bar is placed into its dogged position, its latch remains mechanically retracted. This leaves the hollow metal door free to swing and allows the Maverick HA8SP to automatically open and close the door.
Because the existing panic bar can be mechanically dogged, an electric strike is not required simply to release the panic hardware during normal dogged automatic operation.
This creates a straightforward automatic door sequence:
Dog the existing panic bar, press the handicap button and the Maverick HA8SP automatically opens the door.
If your panic hardware must remain latched between automatic opening cycles, this is not the correct package configuration. An automatic door package designed for compatible electrically released panic hardware should be selected instead.
Hollow metal doors are commonly installed in demanding commercial and institutional buildings because of their strength and durability. High-use openings can also place significant demands on an automatic door operator.
The Maverick HA8SP is designed for applications where a standard-duty automatic door opener may not provide the power, durability or long-term performance required.
Its heavy-duty electromechanical drive system, high-precision commercial gearing, cast aluminum closed gearbox, adjustable spring system and 1/8 HP motor make the HA8SP an excellent choice for demanding hollow metal door applications.
The Maverick HA8SP is a standard-profile low energy automatic swing door operator engineered for sustained use in demanding commercial environments.
High-precision gears, a cast aluminum closed gearbox and powerful electromechanical drive system provide the durability needed for high-traffic automatic door applications.
Adjustable spring tension also allows the HA8SP to be tuned for challenging door conditions, including wind loads and building stack pressure.

The panic bar is not included with this package.
This automatic door opener package is intended for a compatible hollow metal door that already has doggable panic hardware installed, or where compatible panic hardware will be supplied separately.
During normal manual operation, pushing the panic bar retracts the latch and allows occupants to exit through the door.
When the panic device is properly dogged, its latch remains mechanically retracted, allowing the door to swing without requiring the panic bar to be depressed for each automatic opening.
Automatic operation is straightforward once the existing panic bar has been placed into the appropriate dogged position.
When a user presses either handicap push button, the 433 MHz transmitter sends a wireless activation signal to the receiver connected to the Maverick HA8SP.
Because the existing panic device latch is already retracted, the HA8SP can immediately begin opening the hollow metal door.
After the programmed hold-open period expires, the HA8SP automatically begins closing the door.
This package includes two handicap push buttons for automatic activation from both sides of the opening.
Each handicap push button uses a compatible 433 MHz wireless transmitter. The transmitters communicate with the included receiver connected to the HA8SP automatic door operator.
Running control wiring from handicap buttons back to an automatic door operator can be difficult in an existing commercial building.
The included 433 MHz wireless activation system helps simplify installation by allowing the push buttons to communicate wirelessly with the receiver at the operator.
This can be especially useful when working with existing masonry, finished drywall or other wall construction where running new activation wiring would be difficult.
The Maverick HA8SP can be configured for both push-side and pull-side hollow metal door applications.
Push-side installations accommodate reveals from approximately 0 to 14 inches, while pull-side installations accommodate reveals up to approximately 4 inches.
Correct handing and mounting configuration should be selected when ordering.
Choosing the correct Maverick automatic door opener package depends on how your existing panic hardware needs to operate.
If you already have a good commercial hollow metal door, frame and doggable panic device, you may only need the equipment required to make that opening automatic.
This package gives you exactly that: the Maverick HA8SP Ultra Heavy Duty Automatic Door Operator, two wireless handicap push buttons, two 433 MHz transmitters and one compatible receiver.
You keep your existing hollow metal door, frame and compatible panic hardware while adding a high-traffic automatic door system designed for demanding everyday use.
