Maverick HA8LP Low Profile ADA Automatic Door Opener Package for Storefront Doors with Panic Bar & Rim Electric Strike

Standard Duty Low Profile Automatic Door Retrofit Kit with Automatic Panic Hardware Release Up to 300 lb. Doors

Already have a commercial aluminum storefront door with a rim panic bar and need to make it automatic without leaving the panic hardware permanently dogged down?

The Maverick HA8LP Storefront Automatic Door Opener Retrofit Package with Rim Electric Strike provides the automatic operator, electric locking hardware and wireless handicap activation components needed to convert a compatible existing storefront swing door into an automatic accessible entrance.

The biggest challenge with automating a storefront door equipped with panic hardware is the latch. If the panic device remains latched into the frame, the automatic operator cannot open the door until that latch is released.

This package solves that problem with an included rim electric strike. When the automatic door is activated, the rim electric strike releases the existing panic hardware before the Maverick HA8LP begins opening the door.

This allows the panic hardware to remain latched when the door is closed while automatically releasing whenever automatic access is requested.

At the heart of the system is the Maverick HA8LP Low Profile Automatic Door Operator, our standard-duty commercial operator designed for the majority of automatic door applications and doors weighing up to 300 lbs.

Its compact 4-1/8" x 5-1/8" low-profile header provides a cleaner architectural appearance while maintaining a commercial-grade 1/8 HP electromechanical drive system.

IMPORTANT: This is an automatic door opener retrofit package for an existing compatible storefront door with rim panic hardware. The storefront door, frame, glass and panic bar / exit device are not included.

What's Included?

This package combines the major components needed to add automatic operation, wireless handicap activation and automatic panic hardware release to a compatible existing storefront entrance.

  • 1 Maverick HA8LP Low Profile Automatic Door Operator
  • 1 Compatible Rim Electric Strike
  • 2 Commercial Handicap Push Buttons
  • 2 433 MHz Wireless Transmitters
  • 1 Compatible 433 MHz Wireless Receiver
  • Automatic activation capability from both sides of the entrance
  • Automatic electronic release of compatible rim panic hardware before opening

Not Included: Aluminum storefront door, storefront frame, glass, panic bar / exit device, pivots, hinges and other commercial door hardware unless specifically stated otherwise.

The Problem: Your Panic Bar Is Holding the Door Closed

A rim panic device is designed to positively latch the storefront door into the frame. That is exactly what you want from the panic hardware during normal operation, but it creates a problem when an automatic door opener is added.

The Maverick HA8LP cannot automatically open the door while the panic latch remains engaged.

The panic hardware must first be released before the automatic operator begins trying to move the door.

The Solution: Automatic Rim Electric Strike Release

The included rim electric strike provides the electronic release required for automatic operation.

Instead of requiring the panic bar to remain mechanically dogged down, the electric strike releases the point where the compatible rim panic device normally latches into the storefront frame.

When automatic access is requested, the electric strike releases first. The Maverick HA8LP can then begin opening the door.

After the automatic opening cycle is complete and the door closes, the panic hardware can return to its normal latched condition.

Stay Latched When Closed Automatically Unlock When Activated

This is the key advantage of this package over a basic doggable panic bar automatic door setup.

With a doggable panic device, the latch is mechanically held retracted during periods of automatic operation. That can be a simple solution when the entrance is allowed to remain unlatched.

But what if you want the panic bar to stay latched?

That's where this package comes in.

The panic hardware stays latched when the door is closed. When automatic access is requested, the rim electric strike releases, the HA8LP opens the door, and after closing the panic hardware can latch again.

How the Automatic Unlocking Sequence Works

  1. The user presses one of the wireless handicap push buttons.
  2. The 433 MHz transmitter sends the activation signal to the wireless receiver.
  3. The automatic door system signals the rim electric strike to release.
  4. The existing panic hardware latch is released from the storefront frame.
  5. The Maverick HA8LP begins opening the storefront door.
  6. The door reaches the programmed open position.
  7. The door remains open for the programmed hold-open period.
  8. The Maverick HA8LP automatically begins closing the door.
  9. After closing, the existing panic hardware can return to its normal latched condition.

The result is one coordinated entrance combining automatic accessibility, panic egress and automatic electronic unlocking.

Why Choose the Maverick HA8LP?

The Maverick HA8LP is designed to be the standard-duty automatic door operator for the majority of commercial applications.

Not every storefront entrance requires the size and capacity of an ultra heavy-duty operator. For compatible doors weighing up to 300 lbs., the HA8LP provides an excellent balance of commercial-grade construction, compact size and dependable automatic operation.

Its low-profile housing also makes it particularly attractive for aluminum storefront entrances where appearance and available mounting space are important.

For exceptionally heavy doors or demanding high-traffic applications requiring additional capacity, consider the Maverick HA8SP Ultra Heavy Duty Automatic Door Operator.

Low Profile Design Commercial Grade Construction

The Maverick HA8LP combines commercial-grade internal components with a more compact 4-1/8" x 5-1/8" header profile.

This gives the operator a cleaner architectural appearance while reducing the amount of vertical space required above the door.

Inside the housing, the HA8LP uses a 1/8 HP electromechanical motor, high-precision gears, an aluminum-alloy gearbox and heavy-duty sealed bearings designed for sustained commercial operation.

Included Rim Electric Strike

This package includes a rim electric strike designed for compatible rim panic hardware applications.

Unlike the storefront door and panic bar, which are existing or customer-supplied, the rim electric strike is included with this retrofit package.

The strike provides the electronic release required to allow the existing panic hardware to remain latched when the door is closed while still permitting automatic operation.

Rather than requiring the panic device itself to electrically retract, the rim electric strike releases the latch point at the frame.

Your Existing Panic Bar Is NOT Included

The panic bar / exit device is not included with this package.

This retrofit package is intended for a compatible existing storefront door that already has rim panic hardware installed, or where compatible panic hardware will be supplied separately.

Occupants can continue to use the existing panic bar normally for manual egress.

During automatic operation, the included rim electric strike provides the electronic release needed for the HA8LP to open the door.

Wireless Handicap Activation from Both Sides

The package includes two commercial handicap push buttons, allowing automatic activation from both sides of the storefront entrance.

Each push button is paired with a 433 MHz wireless transmitter. When a button is pressed, its transmitter sends the activation signal to the included wireless receiver connected to the automatic door system.

Wireless Activation Components Include:

  • 2 Handicap Push Buttons
  • 2 433 MHz Wireless Transmitters
  • 1 Compatible 433 MHz Wireless Receiver
  • Activation capability from both sides of the entrance
  • Reduced need to run activation wiring from each push button back to header box.
