Dakota Door Controls Electric Hinge Features

  • 48" Wire Length On Door Side
  • Wire Access Cap On Each Hinge Leaf
  • Designed For Use On Aluminum Storefront Doors and Frames

Dakota Door Controls Wire Options and Specifications

Below are the wire options available with Dakota Door Controls electric hinges. As a general rule of thumb, if the electrified hinge is going to be used to run power to an electrical device, be sure the power wires are the proper gauge by referring to the manufacturer specification of the device. Typically, 18 gauge wires are used for distributing power to electric lock accessories, while 26 and 28 gauge wires are utilized for REX monitoring. Assume 2 wires for each type of monitoring on an electric lock. For example, an electrified exit device with REX (request to exit) monitoring and latchbolt monitoring would require a power transfer hinge with a total of 6 wires (2 each 18 gauge wires to power the electric solenoid in the exit device, 2 each 26 gauge wires for the REX monitoring, and 2 each 26 gauge wires for the latchbolt monitoring).
