The Norton 5700 Series LEO® Low Energy Automatic Door Opener combines the convenience of an automatic swing door operator with the proven performance of a Norton Rixson 1601 adjustable mechanical door closer.
Designed for ADA accessibility, moderate-traffic commercial openings and hands-free door operation, the Norton 5700 Series is an excellent solution for applications where a door is normally operated manually but also needs the convenience of automatic activation when required.
Unlike automatic operators that rely primarily on the motor during the closing cycle, the Norton 5700 uses its integrated 1601 hydraulic door closer to control the closing cycle. This provides smooth manual operation, quiet closing and reliable mechanical spring closing even when electrical power is unavailable.
One of the defining features of the Norton 5700 Series is its use of the Norton Rixson 1601 adjustable mechanical door closer.
When the door is opened manually, the operator's motor and drive system are not required to provide normal closing force. Instead, the 1601 closer controls the door through the closing cycle.
The result is a commercial opening that can provide the familiar operation of a quality manual door closer while still offering powered automatic opening whenever an activation device is used.
The closer provides adjustable spring power, backcheck, sweep and latch control, allowing the opening to be properly adjusted for the specific door and application.

The Norton 5700 Series can be integrated with multiple types of automatic door activation equipment, allowing the opening to be configured around the needs of the facility and its users.
Pair the Norton 5700 with compatible wave-to-open switches or other activation devices to create a convenient hands-free automatic door opening.
Touchless activation is particularly useful in medical facilities, restrooms and other environments where reducing physical contact with frequently touched door hardware is desirable.
The automatic hold-open time can be adjusted from approximately 0–30 seconds. A minimum hold-open time may be required depending on the applicable ADA and ANSI/BHMA A156.19 requirements.
If the door encounters an obstruction during powered opening, the motor stops. The mechanical closer can then provide controlled spring closing.
Allows the operator to bypass the remaining hold-open period when extended hold-open is unnecessary, with adjustable door sensitivity.
An adjustable 0–5 second delay provides compatible electric locking hardware time to release before the automatic operator begins opening the door.
If the operator continuously receives an activation signal for an extended period, the inverter can time out to help protect the motor and inverter system.
The Norton 5700 includes an onboard power supply and relay interface to help coordinate compatible electric locking hardware and automatic door accessories.
This allows the operator to be incorporated into openings using equipment such as compatible electric strikes, access-control systems and activation devices. The adjustable motor-start delay allows locking hardware time to release before powered opening begins.
