Gladiator 48 Inch x 96 Inch (4080) Exterior Commercial Door and Frame With Door Hardware, Gray Finish

Designed For Installation On Exterior Walls

The Gladiator exterior commercial metal door kit is an easy to install door system designed for installation on exterior walls of all construction types. Each door frame includes anchors specific for your door installation application. Below are the common types of door frame mounting anchors to choose from. Each anchor is used for a specific exterior wall type:
  • Wood or Metal Stud Anchors: Used on existing exterior walls constructed from wood studs or metal studs. Designed to be used on a building wall that has already been built. Door frame sets into rough opening and uses anchors to attach to wood or metal stud wall.
  • Masonry Tee Anchors: Used on CMU, Block, Brick, or any other type of masonry wall that has not been built yet. Door frame sets in place, and the masonry wall is erected around the door frame.
  • Masonry Wire Anchors: Used on CMU, Block, Brick, or any other type of masonry wall that has not been built yet. Door frame sets in place, and the masonry wall is erected around the door frame.
  • Butterfly Anchors With Masonry Sleeve Bolts: Used on any existing CMU, Block, Brick, or Masonry wall opening. Door frame sets into rough opening, and attaches using the masonry sleeve bolts.
  • Butterfly Anchors With Masonry Wood Screws: Used on any existing non-masonry wall opening. Door frame sets into rough opening, and attaches using the wood screws provided.
  • Punch and Dimple With Masonry Sleeve Bolts: Used on any existing CMU, Block, Brick, or Masonry wall opening. Door frame sets into rough opening, and attaches using the masonry sleeve bolts.
  • Punch and Dimple With Masonry Wood Screws: Used on any existing non-masonry wall opening. Door frame sets into rough opening, and attaches using the wood screws provided.

Door Frame Jamb Depth

The door frame is manufactured from 16 gauge steel and is designed to butt directly against the wall thickness. We offer a door frame jamb depth for all of the building code compliant wall types:
  • 5-3/4" Jamb Depth (Most Common) - Designed to butt against a wall with an overall thickness greater than 5-3/4"
  • 4-3/4" Jamb Depth - Designed to butt against a wall with an overall thickness greater than 4-3/4"
  • 7-3/4" Jamb Depth - Designed to butt against a wall with an overall thickness greater than 7-3/4"
  • 8-1/4" Jamb Depth - Designed to butt against a wall with an overall thickness greater than 8-1/4"

Unsure Of What Jamb Depth You Need?

Exterior door frames are always installed butted against the wall, and held to the outside of the building. Most exterior walls are wider than 5-3/4 inches, therefore the most common exterior door frame jamb depth used is the 5-3/4" jamb depth. In any scenario, since the door frame is butted against the wall, you will want to make sure that the door frame jamb depth is less than that of the overall wall thickness.

Before You Order

Before you place your order be sure to verify the rough opening requirements for this door as well as consider the following additional options available.

Rough Opening Requirements

  • Frame designed to butt against an exterior wall
  • Rough Opening: 52-1/2" Wide x 98-1/4" Tall

Commercial Lever Handle Functions

This Gladiator metal door kit includes a commercial grade lever handle. Depending on your door application, you can choose the lever function that suits you best. For example, if this metal door is going to be used as a storage room door, then the "storeroom" function would be selected.
  • Entrance: Latchbolt operated by lever from either side. Outside lever locked by turn button from inside. Unlocked by key from outside or rotating inside lever.
  • Storeroom: Latch operated by rotating inside lever or key in outside lever. Outside lever always fixed.
  • Privacy: Latchbolt operated by lever from either side. Outside lever unlocked by push button on inside. Unlocked by emergency release on outside, rotating inside lever.
  • Passage: Latchbolt operated by lever from either side at all times.

Optional Commercial Door Closer

A commercial door closer is a hydraulic device that regulates the closing speed of the door and will automatically close the door after it has been used. Commercial door closers help lengthen the life of your commercial metal door and also act as a safety device preventing the door from slamming closed on any one. As the manufacturer it is recommended to include the door closer.

Optional Door Threshold

A door threshold is an aluminum bottom plate designed to span across the foot of the doorway. It provides a seal and barrier under the door to prevent water, insects, and other debris from entering under the door way. As the manufacturer it is recommended to include the door threshold.

Optional Door Sweep

A door sweep is a weatherstripping device designed to mount to the bottom of the door. It is available with nylon bristles or a vinyl gasket and is used to seal the gap between the bottom of the door and the threshold. Weatherstripping plays an important role in improving your building's energy efficiency as well as pest control. As the manufacturer it is recommended to include a door sweep.

Optional Door Frame Weather Stripping

Door frame weather stripping is available as either a stick on gasket or a screw mounted bulb gasket. Both types are designed to eliminate the gap between the door and frame, providing your building with better energy efficiency. As the manufacturer it is recommended to include some form of door frame weather stripping.

Optional Commercial Door Stop

If your metal door is going to be installed in a location where the door can hit the wall when it is fully open, then a wall stop or floor stop is recommended. Door stops help prevent damage to your wall and door. Each time a door slams open against the wall, the impact travels through the door, hardware, and into the frame. This can cause the frame and door to bend as well as damage to the hardware.

Optional Door Holder

A kick down door holder or crash chain door holder are also available which allows the user to hold the door open. This option is great for storerooms or closet doors where pedestrians are constantly restocking or moving in and out of the room.

Optional Fire Label

If the commercial door is going to be installed on a fire wall, we offer a variety of fire ratings to choose from up to 3 hours.
